Judge and Applicant Requirements for Our Exclusive Scholarship Benefit

Joseph Kaminski, Son of P-4 Council member Francis Kaminski, Received His Award at Our Union Hall in July 2011
We believe that working families working together can fulfill their dreams. Our members' donations support our McCusker Memorial Fund, which awarded 61 children and grandchildren $1,000.00 scholarships in 2011.
Winners are chosen each year by a panel of independent judges approved by our Union's Executive Council. Members are encouraged to recruit neighbors in their community or co-workers who are not in our Union willing to volunteer their time for this important position.
Submit nominations for 2012 McCusker Scholarship judges by e-mail to Executive Assistant Bernadette Conway at the Union hall. Be sure to do so by May 2, 2012 to ensure they are included on the Executive Council's agenda in time for consideration.
More than 135 applications were received in 2011 alone, and the judges made their determinations on the basis of:
Scholastic ability as determined by scholarship record and/or competitive examinations;
Financial need; and
Social adaptation.
2012 instructions for application for a scholarship grant are linked below along with the application. It will be the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that all required materials are received according to the stated deadlines. Failure to fulfill all stated requirements will result in automatic rejection of the application.
