On November 17 March and Occupy the Interstate.

Three years after Wall Street wrecked our economy, 25 million Americans are still unable to find full-time work. At the same time, the gap between the richest 1% and the rest of us in the 99% is wider than ever. But instead of creating jobs, Congress ignores the needs of the 99%, and focuses on job-killing service cuts and unaffordable tax giveaways for the superrich.
Making Connecticut State Government Work Better.

Yesterday the new joint labor management committee charged with transforming Connecticut state agencies held its first meeting. The cooperative process that CSEA has fought for decades to create for our state employee members is now finally up and running -- and not a moment too soon.
Got Ideas for Transforming State Government?.

At a time of great uncertainty and insecurity for most public employees, CSEA members have taken charge of our future. The recently approved SEBAC 2011 agreement's new transformational process puts us in the driver's seat to make state government work better -- and to make it a better place to work.
Taking Action on Reports of State Managers' Longevity Bonuses.

Union leaders are responding to news reports that thousands of appointed officials, managers, and top agency officials would receive upwards of $7 million in longevity bonuses in October. The State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) is filing a grievance on behalf of the front-line members of its constituent unions for allowing the payments to go forward.
March and Rally for Infants and Toddlers with Developmental Delays.

The Early Connections Birth to Three program was targeted for closure earlier this summer under Governor Dannel P. Malloy's alternative budget. Since then, state employees ratified an agreement to save $1.6 billion for taxpayers, protect good jobs, and preserve vital services. But the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) refuses to re-open admissions to families in need.
Layoff Notices Being Rescinded as Legislature Approves SEBAC Agreements.

The Connecticut General Assembly yesterday ratified the revised SEBAC 2011 agreement and companion bargaining unit contracts with the expiration of the review period since they were filed five days ago. Legislative approval means that the job security provisions for the 32 out of 34 bargaining units that ratified their companion agreements are now in force.
Rescinding Layoff Notices for State Workers and Restoring Services for Residents.

Leaders of the unions in the State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) again called on the Malloy Administration Friday to immediately restore the jobs of recently laid-off members. All but two of the 34 bargaining units in the coalition's 15 unions -- representing 97% of the state's unionized workforce -- have approved extended contracts that provide four years of protection from layoffs. These are companions to the revised SEBAC tentative agreement (TA) that was unanimously approved by the coalition after the members of its unions ratified it.
Earlier today state employee unions, with the exception of the Connecticut State Police Union, voted to approve the revised SEBAC tentative agreement (TA) to save jobs and protect services. I want to thank all the members of CSEA who worked so hard to pass the agreement.
Tomorrow, SEBAC will meet and on behalf of CSEA's members I will cast a yes vote for the revised tentative agreement to protect jobs and preserve benefits.
State Agencies Directed to Assure Members of Full Layoff Protection.

At the request of State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) union leaders, the Malloy Administration has moved to address conflicting information disseminated to some workers who recently received notice of layoff. The inaccurate information has been spread by news media sources and by some agency managers. At issue is job protection for state workers receiving layoff notices or being laid-off prior to final votes on the revised tentative agreement unions and the governor's representatives reached last week.
