P-4 Council Member Stephen Anderson Called for Others to Be Part of the Solution to the Crisis at the SEBAC Press Conference Announcing Ratification Results

On April 20, State Employees Bargaining Agent Coalition (SEBAC) leaders announced they had reached a tentative agreement (TA) with the Administration of Governor Rell that would save state taxpayers more than $700 million.

The latest information on the agreement for our members will be posted here. We have linked a downloadable version of the full SEBAC tentative agreement here, and linked individual bargaining unit TAs to five of our State Division Council's main pages. Both TAs were mailed to members at their home addresses the week of April 27, as well.

Be sure to check out the "Solving Our Economic Crisis without Sacrificing Services" section of our site as well. That's where we have posted important updates and Union-specific announcements related to Connecticut's state budget deficit since last fall. The SEBAC "In This Together CT" website is a more comprehensive source for current news and opportunities to take action to resolve the crisis.

Members of our Union's State Division Councils voted on both the SEBAC and individual bargaining unit-specific agreements the week of May 4. When the votes were counted on May 6 after the last of our polling places closed, the SEBAC tentative agreement was ratified by an overwhelming 87% of participating members, with:
  • 3,215 members voting in support of the agreement; and
  • 494 members voting in opposition.

Individual bargaining unit tallies are being posted to their respective Council's main pages.

On May 8, SEBAC leaders announced that all 13 unions had ratified the agreement, after two weeks of voting by the members of the coalition's individual bargaining units. When the votes were tallied, overall support for the agreement was better than 3 to 1, with
  • 26,408 members voting in support of the agreement; and
  • 8,475 members voting in opposition.
