Supporting the Employee Free Choice Act

Workers across the country deserve a fair chance to unite with their co-workers for better wages and benefits and a chance to create a better future for their kids. Too often, they don't have the opportunity because of outdated laws that favor large corporations and their billionaire CEOs over workers.
When some workers are denied a voice on the job it affects all of our abilities to negotiate. Our benefits, our wages, and our ability to deliver the services our communities need will be severely weakened.
There's a bill the US House of Representatives passed in 2007 -- but President Bush's allies in the Senate filibustered when he threatened to veto it -- that will make sure all workers get a fair shot at achieving the American Dream. Last year, SEIU began mobilizing over a million members to elect stronger pro-worker majorities in congress and a President who would sign the Employee Free Choice Act in 2009.
When congress reintroduced the Employee Free Choice Act in March, it immediately gained wide support far beyond the labor movement. Civil rights, religious, environmental, human rights, women’s and consumer groups are joining our call to restore workers' free choice to form unions!
