Purpose: The Monroe Board of Education has proposed health plan changes that would impact members of our Paraprofessional Council's Chapter I31, which represents the paraprofessionals working in the district's 6 schools.
Agenda: The school board's proposal to force members to switch their health plans to Cigna has raised issues we are attempting to resolve in upcoming contract negotiations -- and before the current vendor, HealhtNet, is sold and closes business on March 1.
Action: Attend the meeting and make sure the school board understands they must negotiate changes to our members' health plans, and should not put the security of their paraprofessionals' health at unnecessary risk.
