Our Issues - Bus Drivers

 Laidlaw SE Group
 Council 760 Chapter I103 Vice-President Marie Rodriquez
and Steward Sheri Burgess are Driving Up Standards for
School Bus Workers at Laidlaw’s Southeast Yards

Our members working in student transportation face many challenges on the job, from providing safe, reliable service to our public school children, to reducing the high turnover in our bus yards. The issues our members are committed to addressing in our bus yards, at the negotiating table, and in the State's General Assembly include:

  •  Increasing retention by raising income standards and creating opportunities for access to affordable health care for bus yard workers
  •  Providing additional training for all bus drivers to meet State and Federal student transportation safety standards
  •  Establishing and protecting bus yard workers' rights to representation
  •  Enforcing workplace safety and health standards for bus yard workers and the children we serve
