We are a member-driven organization, and our leadership at all levels is made up of our peers; active and retired workers committed to our vision of economic and social justice. From the beginning, our union's victories in improved working conditions, more respect and dignity on the job, and building power for working families has relied on member activists in our worksites and in our communities.
Our Constitution and By-Laws call for the
election of two members as Union officers -- a President and
Secretary/Treasurer. Each is elected at our biennial convention to
serve two-year terms and provide organizational direction and
leadership in order to achieve our collective goals.
Our Executive Council is made up of members democratically elected by their peers as delegates, and is our Local's designated decision-making body between biennial conventions. All of our members -- active workers and retirees alike -- are represented by the council, whose responsibilities include determining our union's annual budget and setting our collective bargaining strategies.
The Executive Council meets at our Union hall in Hartford on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM.
