CSEA/SEIU Local 2001's Council 400 is the largest and most effective organization of retired public service workers in Connecticut. We are over 12,000 members, making us a powerful political force. Whenever and wherever decisions are being made that affect our retirement security, our Council 400 make sure our voices are heard!

Are you afraid your pension is not truly safe?
Are you concerned about Social Security privatization?
Are you looking for additional cost-saving benefits and consumer discounts?
Do you worry about the quality of your retiree health care coverage?

Our Council 400 Chapters

Aldo SicusoAnd even if you have retired and are receiving a pension, but have chosen to continue to work, you can also join. Many of our Council 400 members hold retiree membership in more than one union and organization. All are welcome to join!

Council 400 chapters are located throughout the states of Connecticut and Florida, and any retiree member or affiliate can join the chapter of their choice. Our Council 400 members retired from State service in various bargaining units, as well as employees not covered under collective bargaining, state legislators, and former Constitutional officers.

We have also recently opened membership eligibility to any public service retiree, and their spouses or domestic/civil union partners. We are a powerful political force, and growing stronger!

Our Council 400 Monthly Meetings

Cathy ToscanoEven though many of us are no longer living in Connecticut, we still need to be kept informed of what's happening with our union and our health plan. After all, it’s up for renegotiation in 2017!

Council 400 chapters meet regularly to discuss issues important to retired public service workers and often to hear a speaker on relevant subjects. Our Connecticut chapters meet monthly from September through May, and our Florida chapters meet at least once annually, and Chapter meeting details are printed in all but the July and August editions of our monthly newspaper, the CSEA News.

Our Council delegates meet the third Thursday of the month at 10:00 A.M. at our CSEA/SEIU Local 2001 Hall in Hartford. Join us to learn how we are working to build power for retired public service workers!
