CSEA/SEIU Local 2001's Council 400 is the largest and most effective organization of retired public service workers in Connecticut. We are over 12,000 members, making us a powerful political force. Whenever and wherever decisions are being made that affect our retirement security, our Council 400 make sure our voices are heard!

Join with us to:

  • Participate in an organization run by its members;
  • Maintain our 20-year agreement on health insurance and cost-of-living adjustments;
  • Protect our pension fund investments; and Preserve Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Enjoy benefits such as:
  • Annual scholarships available to our children and grandchildren;
  • Special discounts, rates, and savings on a wide variety of products and services;
  • Discounted travel coordinated through our Social Activities Committee; and
  • Access to our knowledgeable, full-time staff coordinator.

In 2009, SEIU's International Executive Board President Andy Stern appointed Council 400 member Tom Connolly to SEIU's Retiree Advocacy Council (RAC), a nationwide effort to strengthen organizing among retired union members. Our retiree leaders have developed a work plan incorporating these RAC guidelines in order to build greater power for our retiree members over the next year.
