Our Issues - CSC

Joe CaseyOur members working in corrections put their health and safety at risk for the public we serve each and every day. We need to know the financial security of our families will not be put at risk by inmates filing lawsuits against DOC staff.

Member, Legislative Action Committee, CSC Council

Our members share common values based on our commitment to public service. We believe that we have an opportunity to make a positive impact on those who are protected, housed, and rehabilitated in the Department of Correction, and that our efforts are of critical importance to making Connecticut a safe place for us all to live and raise our families.

We are joining with our brothers and sisters in our union and other labor organizations for advocacy on issues of common interest:

 Funding mental health treatment services for inmates in Correction facilities whose condition, if not properly addressed, jeopardizes the safety of our DOC workers;

 Indemnifying Correction agency workers from inmates’ lawsuits, which threatens financial security on the job each and every day;

 Establishing and protecting our Correction agency workers’ fundamental rights to representation; and

 Protecting the rights of members serving on the military and expanding veteran’s benefits for our many public service workers who have served on active duty and in the reserves.
