NOTE: Rescheduled from original January 28 date and previously rescheduled February 4 date by Town officials.
Purpose: Members of Council 760's Chapter I32, which represents the Middlebury police department's officers have been speaking out about faulty radios and the public safety risks they raise for nearly four years.
Agenda: Special meeting set the official date for a referendum on March 2 to provide financing for the communications upgrade to the Middlebury Police Department recommended by the Police Commission and passed by the Finance Board.
Action: Come to the meeting to show support for our Union members and the public they serve, and send a message that the public will support a town-wide referendum on replacing the police department's radios.
NOTE: Absentee voting is now open at Town Hall weekdays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Town residents should take the time to vote "YES" for the bonding to provide the public safety communications upgrade BEFORE the referendum date to be sure their voice is heard.
