Officers, Delegates, and Other Positions
Council Members Elected in June 2010 to Provide Guidance and Direction for the Next Two Years
Our nearly 250 Council members are committed to ensuring a quality education for everyone in Connecticut. We oversee the services provided in local public schools for children in kindergarten through 12th grade, as well as state-provided supports for youth and adults who are visually impaired, have a learning disability, or require assistance in order to work competitively and live independently.
We believe in, and practice, democratic empowerment. Our Council is a member-driven organization, and every member has a vote in the election of our leaders. We are governed by our Council's by-laws and the CSEA/SEIU Local 2001 Constitution.
Member leaders are elected to carry out our Council's agenda and provide the oversight needed to enforce our contract with the State's Department of Education (SDE), Board of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB), and Bureau of Rehabilitation Services (BRS). Our Council officers also represent us on the CSEA/SEIU Local 2001 Executive Council, assuring our priority issues are included in our union's larger-scale efforts to make Connecticut a great place for all of us to live, work, and raise our families.
