Our Issues - P-3B

Matt Parenti“As a State School Teacher instructing youths in the Department of Correction, I see firsthand how critical resources are not being made available for students with special needs in our State and local public schools.”

We are committed to empowering our Council’s members to take an active role in creating more effective, efficient, and enjoyable worksites. We are also pursuing a number of agenda priorities that we believe will make a difference in the quality of services we provide to Connecticut’s taxpayers, such as:

 Funding client-driven services with State oversight for families with children afflicted by autism spectrum disorders in public and private schools;

 Cleaning up the State’s policy of contracting-out public services to unaccountable, profit-motivated private health and education vendors;

 Stabilizing and improving State services for children and adults with developmental disabilities;

 Implementing long-overdue reforms at the DCF’s Connecticut Juvenile Training School; and

 Improving the quality of our worklife by moving Administration and Agency management to treat our education and rehabilitation professionals with greater dignity and respect.
